We spent a few days in the capital of Turkey, Ankara. I thought the capital of Turkey was Istanbul but I was wrong, oops- I’m still learning new things about the places we are traveling to, ha!

During our time there, our main focus was the bike maintenance. We spent nearly 2 full days working on the bike: deep cleaning, removing the gas tank to put in a new fuel pump filter, changing three different oils, checking valve clearance, tinkering with the sidecar alignment, checking spokes, lubricating the clutch and throttle cables, lubricating the U-joints, and some other little things. Austin is a wizard with learning (and retaining) knowledge on the bike maintenances. I am getting the hang of things and Austin is an excellent teacher! It is very fun to work on the bike together and each time we work on the bike, we become a stronger team with our communication and anticipation with one another. It’s really neat to see that growth and fruit!

We found a really killer deal at an awesome hotel so we had a very restful stay in a cozy bed. The hotel had a delicious breakfast and a fresh juice bar every day, we tried so many different fresh juice combinations; it was tasty and healthy. I still have pretty high hotel status from when I used to travel full-time for work so we were allowed to have free breakfast and dinner every day, love past work perks, ha! It was pretty nice on the budget to not really spend any cash :)

Here are some photos from working on the bike…

We started with replacing the fuel pump filter which meant we needed to take off the gas tank and empty it:

Draining the gas tank:

Gas tank is fully off 👍🏻

Which one is the new filter? ;)

Me checking the spoke tightness:

Oil change time! We didn’t have a legit oil pan so we made one:

Engine oil draining:

Cylinder head is now exposed (we took the cover off) so we can check the valve clearance:

Starting to work on the final drive oil:

Putting back in the drain plug before adding in the fresh, new oil to the gearbox:
