We spent a couple of days in Eungella National Park. The park is known for their river where platypuses live so you can try to spot them early in the morning and around dusk.

We spent one afternoon and evening watching for platypuses and ended up watching 2 swim around for almost an hour. They were about 1 ft long and looked quite quirky; they have a black, wide, and long beak, a big tail, and little arms and legs. As we were watching for them, we would look for bubbles on the water surface and then shortly after the platypus would surface for about 3-5 seconds and then dive back down under the water and swim to the next spot.

We also went for a hike to a waterfall and swimming hole. We were told the swimming hole had cool water but we were skeptical..any body of water we have been in here in Australia has been warm since it is consistently hot out (where we traveled in Australia that is)! But hey, we were wrong and I was so thrilled about it! The water was very cold and felt so refreshing after hiking in the heat. We swam around in the fresh water and let our body temperatures decrease and it felt so incredible, phew!
