Turkmenistan is an ex-Soviet country that has been controlled by dictators since the fall of the Soviet Union. We wanted to see the country with our own eyes since we have heard some wild things about it. The country is known for the white marble capital city called Ashgabat and the Darvaza Gas Crater. We got to see both!

In order to enter the country, you must have a guide so we lined up a company that provided an English speaking guide. Our guide was named Merdan and he was a 28 year old guy that has a wife and two children.
