We met Jakob on the Soviet Steeds Facebook page. He kindly extended an offer to us to stay with he and his family in downtown Copenhagen so we met up with him right outside of the city and were greeted by Jakob, his sidecar, and his son, Otto, in the sidecar. The first evening, we spent the evening together eating sushi, learning about one another, and watching Otto be a spaz. Otto has so much energy and Therese mentioned that he is currently obsessed with "older boys" so he immediately clung on to Austin and Austin was Otto's new best friend. Otto would grab Austin's hand and guide him wherever they were headed next: downstairs, to find a book or more toys, going outside...it was adorable.

The next few days we spent time with their family when they weren't working. We went out for a couple of breakfasts at their favorite cafe, shared dinners together, and overall had a relaxing time with them. Oh, I forgot to mention, we played with motorcycle toys for nearly 2-3 hours a day with Otto and all became the best of friends. We only know a few words in Danish so communicating with Otto was challenging but regardless, when you're playing with motorcycle and car toys, who needs to really speak the same language?

Jakob and Therese had recently purchased their home and the building it was in from Therese's father and moved in this past January. This was the same home that Therese grew up in! They were currently renovating some of it so it was exciting to see the progress that has been made and hear about what is coming next!

We are so grateful for their hospitality and for meeting them, hope you three can come find us somewhere in the world!

In the second photo, below Otto had just found out we were leaving and he was a bit sad...it doesn't quite capture his energetic personality so note for next time, take a family photo prior to telling the young one the guests are leaving, ha!
