Upon our arrival in Paris, we headed to a Ural-certified moto shop to get a maintenance prior to heading north out of France. When we stopped in, we found out their first available slot for a maintenance was in 2 weeks so we decided to book it and then start looking around at other Ural-certified shops in France, Belgium, and the Netherlands. During our time of research, we meet Guillaume and we chatted with him a bit. He asked where we were staying in Paris and we told him we had not gotten that far in our decisions for the day. He said, "no problem, my mother, Dorothee, has friends that love hosting travelers in their garden (yard), they currently have a family friend from Bolivia staying with them." He mentioned their place was about 5 minutes from the shop so we planned to head there for the evening.

Honestly, we were not sure what to expect, but we were happy to camp in their garden for a night until we sorted out the motorcycle shop and such. When we arrived at their home, the gate was locked but had a key in it. We both were a bit confused but decided to let ourselves in and poke around to the back. When we got to the back of their home, we saw the three of them having dinner on their patio and they all greeted us with big smiles and a spot at their table to join them for dinner. Isabelle and Bertrand are a kind, retired couple natives to Paris and Diego is their family friend from Bolivia who is about our age. Before we sat down, Isabelle invited us to stay in one of their guest rooms rather than camping and gave us fresh towels for showers, what a generous offer! They shared that we can stay as long as we need and they gave us a key so we are able to come and go as we please. Their home is beautiful; it has a brick exterior, a big garden/yard, a patio, and so much more. We are so grateful for them to host us!

The first evening at their home, we joined them for dinner on the patio and Dorothee (Guillaume's mom) ended up joining us too. We all enjoyed the evening sharing about travel, our trip, families, and more. At the end, Dorothee mentioned that she has a family of 7 geese on her countryside property and over the weekend she is planning to catch them all and bring them to a bird sanctuary since they are leaving their poo everywhere. They have never had geese before so their lawn being covered in goose poo is something new. She shared how they planned to have a few people over to help catch them so she invited us! Austin and I weren't sure if she was serious about the whole situation but we told her that we were absolutely up for it!
