We found an amazing church in Bergen called Salt Church. It was mainly in Norwegian but they had an English translation for the message and announcements which was helpful. Espen, one of the pastors, spoke passionately on the international community and our call to integrate Christianity between cultures and communities. He was a living example of that and the church seemed like it had a heart for opening their doors to all kinds of kinds. We chatted with him after the service for a few minutes and were able to learn all about his life experiencing such a strong community in Bozeman, Montana when he moved abroad there for a few months with his wife. He shared that all of the Christians were so welcoming and hospitable. During that time, he felt a huge call on his heart to incorporate the mission to his next stage of life.

Before the service, we chatted with a gal named Idun, she was part of the welcome team as a volunteer. She was so funny and the best kind of quirky I have met. We were sharing that we are doing a lot of camping and she shared that she built a hut/cabin on some property and offered for us to hike in and stay there. The place looked cozy and perfect for a little hut trip but we are heading the opposite direction so it unfortunately did not pan out. I then bumped into Malia (sp?) and she first said to me in Norwegian: "you're a new face!" I kindly apologized for not knowing the language and she chuckled and repeated herself in English. She was so warm and welcoming and instantly invited Austin and I to sit with her and her boyfriend, David. We had a blast chatting and getting to know them! We were about to head out and wanted to tell Idun goodbye but then started chatting again with her and a couple of other girls, Anne and Nathalie. They were giving us all of the Norwegian tips and tricks on foods to try, places to visit, and so much more.
