We are in Istanbul for Haley and Batu's wedding! We first went to their Turkish wedding on Sunday which was about 5 minutes of them signing papers and saying "I do" - but in Turkish. During the short ceremony, there were funny traditions happening that we didn't even realize until after the fact when she was sharing them with us. One tradition was that Haley was supposed to stomp on Batu's foot while he signed the papers as a joke meaning "you must sign these papers". When she did it, his whole family erupted and cheered. I remember all of the clapping and cheering but wasn't really sure why it was going on so having her explain it after connected all of the dots. This coming Saturday, they will have their Christian ceremony and reception.
