At the end of last year, Austin and I visited Istanbul for a wedding. Haley, our friend, is from Colorado and she married a Turkish guy named Batu. Haley has been working with refugees and living in Istanbul for nearly 4 years. Now that we are back in Istanbul, we were excited to see them both post-wedding weekend and spend time with them!

We were able to join Haley in volunteering one of the days with the couple of refugee programs that she helps run. We helped prepare meals and helped with the kids program (crafts, puppet show, general playing, etc.). It was amazing seeing the impact and the work that their group is doing for so many women and children here in Istanbul.
