On some of our zodiac tours, we launched a 3rd boat called "Sloopie". Sloopie is a character boat with a hard body, tiny zippy engine, and a wobbly sense about em. This tour was absolutely crazy and one I'll never forget in Sloopie.

We spotted a few whales (humpbacks and minkes) a couple hundred meters away from our boat and noticed that the humpbacks were slowly making their way towards us to check us out. We saw them from about 200 meters away and thought, "wow, this is absolutely incredible!" Then we saw them about 100 meters away and thought, "gosh, they are massive!" Then we saw them from 25 meters out and thought, "are we too close?" We didn't want to start our engine and move because the engine noise startles the whales so it is best to shut off (or keep shut off) your engine if you are around whales. All of a sudden, between 2 of our boats, a humpback breached and showed off most of its body! It was absolutely incredible and a moment I will never forget!

One of our friends captured it on video so I added it below:
