I found a cooking class in Mae Sot and thought that would be a fun date night idea! I expected to cook Thai food but we ended up cooking Burmese food..I didn't do thaaaat much research after reading awesome reviews so it was a surprise to us both, ha. For the cooking class, we were with an Australian couple named Robin and Peter. They were both so kind and just celebrated 50 years of marriage!

It was overall a really beautiful evening. We went to the local *Burmese* market since our teacher/chef was Burmese and since we were making Burmese food and boy, they had some wild things there... Of course there were your typical fruits and veggies, but there were also some live animals, see below. We didn't get any live animals for our dishes in case you were wondering.

Once we got all of our ingredients from the market, we headed back to the restaurant to start cooking! The dishes we made were: tea leaf salad, spicy potato samosas (a little Indian twist), veggie and dal curry, and a refreshing lime-basil drink.

Chili peppers, ginger, limes, and mangoes, what more do you need?!

This woman was feeding the rats...they eventually kill and dry out the rats to sell

These are bags of dried rats...I think they eat them (jaw drop!)

Let the cooking commence!

All done cooking, time to eat!
