We spent a few days in Munich walking around the city, spent time with Carmen and her family, and visited the Dachau concentration camp memorial.

I met Carmen at a cafe in Berlin and we chatted for about an hour. It was during one of our "alone days" so I had found a cute cafe to sip on a cappuccino and read at. She had asked to sit at my table outside while she waited for a seat inside and then we began to chat about the alps, travel, and Germany. She shared that she lived in Munich but was born in Berlin. We exchanged information after spending time together and chatted over email the couple of weeks between Berlin and our time in Munich. She invited us to stay with her and her 2 girls (Toni is 14 and Matilda is 9) while we were visiting Munich.

During our time walking around the city, Carmen joined us as one of her daughters was in Paris and the other was spending the day with a friend. We toured around Old Town, walked to the top of a church clock tower for an aerial view of the city, watched the river surfers, walked around the English garden, had lunch at a biergarten, and more! Aside from viewing the city, we enjoyed breakfast together each day and played a fun game called "Pictures" which is a game where you recreate photos with the objects of the game. It worked well since we don't speak much German and Matilda doesn't speak much English either. We also toured the local fire house where Toni volunteers as a youth fire fighter.

It was such a fun time with their family, they all loved the sidecar so Austin was able to give each of them a ride in it the day we left. We are so grateful for Carmen's generosity and the time we got with their family.
