The Choquequirao ruins site is a remote Incan citadel perched high in the Andes of southern Peru. It is called the "sister city" of Machu Picchu for its similar architecture and placement in the mountains. It was last populated in the late 1500s and was likely abandoned as the Spanish started to take over the region. Only about 30-40% of the ruins site has been uncovered so far, I am curious if they will continue to uncover more!
