We originally met Corey at Subway on our second day of riding the trip when we were passing through Kansas, he was also passing through. We chatted with him for only about 10 minutes and got connected before parting ways. I remember we both pulled out of the Subway parking lot at the same time but he peeled away so fast on his bike and just like that, he was a tiny dot in the distance. We don't accelerate fast and average around 45 mph, ha. Little did we know, we would be seeing him a few days later and spending the evening with him and his amazing family.

Corey gave me his fiancé’s (Emily) contact information to help coordinate our timing; she was so welcoming over texting and even more kind when we met in person. We also met Carmen, Corey’s daughter, who was a mature and beautiful 13 year old paired with a spunky spirit. We had such a blast spending the evening talking about van/bus build outs, bikes, weddings, their animals, and life in general. It was such a relaxing evening. They built a tiny home themselves and are planning to build out a bus next! Corey and his family have 2 dogs, a fluffy cat named Gandalf, chickens, and a big bunny! Carmen gave me a tour of their chicken coop and we collected 8 eggs and had the fresh eggs for breakfast the next morning.

We also met their neighbor friend, Dan, who has a mechanical repair shop across the way. He is a big motorcycle guy too so he had fun checking out our ride and we had a blast talking with him.

Thank you, Corey, Emily, and Carmen for your hospitality and a fun, new friendship!
