The morning of a big travel and ferry day, we woke up to a dead battery, ugh! Since our ferry was leaving in about 25 minutes, we decided to push the bike from our accommodation to the ferry port to sort the problem on the 4 hour ferry ride. We fortunately made the ferry and got situated with our tools out and voltmeter ready to use. We figured out that the battery was toast and when I say toast, I mean it had such little charge no electronics would work on the bike and therefore the fuel pump wouldn’t work so jumping it and push starting it would not work.
Since the battery was dead, we needed to figure out how to get from the ferry, across the land 8 miles to the 2nd ferry and then another 100 miles to the next town…all with a non-functioning motorbike. Fortunately, we made a new friend (Sam from Idaho!) who offered us a tow both of the distances and we gladly took him up on the offer! He helped us out so much and we enjoyed getting to know him throughout the entire travel day.
