We stayed at an airbnb that was one of the most interactive airbnb experiences we have had! It was a Tunisian family with 2 parents, 3 daughters, and 1 son. We had tea with Mohamed when we got there and got to know the rest of his family at the dinner hour. I ended up making a veggie pasta dish which is a staple on this trip since we can find the ingredients nearly everywhere, ha.

While I was cutting up the veggies and prepping our meal, I was able to get to know Mohamed's eldest daughter, Dunya, pretty well. She is a 19 year old who is studying for her pre-university exams and said that she is at the top of her class. She studies a lot and Mohamed shared that he wants her to study to become a doctor. Dunya shared that she will probably study to become a doctor but has a huge passion for writing scripts and has written 3 scripts within the past 6 years. Writing is her favorite thing to do, specifically in English which is her 3rd language (she speaks 4 languages total). She dreams of going to Hollywood and the USA in general because of the movie industry. She went on and on about Hollywood and how she would do anything to be able to be there in person and eventually work there! Her father mentioned that he does not want her to come to the USA because it could corrupt and open her mind too much. Each country has flaws but in general, I hope that she can follow her passion and make it to Hollywood one day!

After I wrapped up making some dinner, Dunya started to make brik which is a Tunisia food. It is a fried pastry that typically includes an egg, tuna, cheese, and harissa. Dunya's was simpler and included an egg inside, she said that is her family's favorite and she is the best at making them. Brik is a food that they make every single night during Ramadan which is a Muslim 1-month long fast during daylight hours. They make it every night once the sun sets as part of their daily big feast!
