We didn’t know what to expect for Kotor but it has blown us away - phew, it’s so beautiful here!

We ended up staying at a guest home of an older couple who have been married over 60 years. We didn’t speak much of the same language but ended up showing each other photos of our families and shared a lot of smiles and awkward laughs. They also greeted us with some of the local Montenegrin liquor and goodness, it was strong. Native drinks are always fun to try but since I don’t really like alcohol (I mainly like mojitos and tinto de veranos in Spain), I rarely enjoy them and then have the internal debate of not finishing it and potentially offending the person that’s so proud of their local drink or just finishing it and trying to hide my odd facial expressions, haha.

We stayed a bit away from actual Old Town Kotor but it was perfect to be in a more quiet spot. We walked into the city one evening and it was absolutely stunning, wow! The old stone buildings were beautiful and everything was built at the base of a huge mountain wall. We had a yummy seafood meal that evening and it was delicious.

The next day, we did a lot of research on our tablet and also had a mini alone day. We have been trying to hammer out a detailed parts list for a Ural dealer in Bucharest, Romania to help us order by the time we get there and that’s been a process to sort out things will may and will need in the next 6-7 months. We accomplished the final list so we are excited to have that behind us.

During our mini alone day, we both explored around our accommodation by the water and up the mountains. Austin hiked up to an old, abandoned church that have gravestones and it was actually pretty interesting to hear about once we had gotten back together for dinner.

I spent a lot of time walking by the water and reading, I can’t get enough of these mountains and the views!!

For our meal the second night, we went to a quaint spot near where we were staying and had some amazing seafood again. Everything is so so fresh!!

Overall, despite our time being short, about 3 days, in Kotor, it has been so sooo stunning. The city itself is gorgeous and quaint. We’d love to revisit this place during summer or in the warmer months so we will be back!
