We had a big day of crossing the border from Montenegro to Croatia but to begin, a quick recap/reminder that we just got our bike stolen and found in Bari, Italy before heading to Eastern Europe. Italy is part of the Schengen Area and Croatia is too.

Since we were crossing into Croatia, our license plate popped up in their system as stolen. We were told that Italy currently has our bike tagged as stolen and if the Croatian border control police could not get a hold of the Italian police to change it in the system, they would have to take our bike and send it back to Italy. First of all, good luck shipping that thing back to Italy without a driver. And second, c’mon, we just got out of Italy and are so excited to be in Eastern Europe!! Ha! We gave them our registration, paperwork, the police report, and the resolved police report but they still needed Italy to confirm and update it within the Schengen system. So the waiting began…we waited about 45 minutes and decided to eat some lunch…

We waited a couple more hours and killed a lot of time playing cards. I beat Austin 2/3 games of gin rummy. The hand below was what I was dealt so don’t judge ;)

After about 4 hours, Italy was able to update the system and we were on our way. Unfortunately, we had a FaceTime date with our good friends Zack and Reanna (and baby Alayna) planned for that afternoon but had to reschedule since we were so delayed.

But hey, we are stoked to be in Croatia now!
