We spent about a week with the Farringtons, who run a non-profit called Open Hearts. It was amazing to get to know them, surf together, and learn about the work God has called them to do in Nicaragua.
One of their projects, Club Esperanza, is more than just a club or school. They provide hot meals, tutoring, scholarships, and a safe place for children living in one of the most desperate neighborhoods in Nicaragua. The community sits next to the largest dump in Central America, where many residents survive by sorting through waste to collect recyclables. Seeing the depth of need was heartbreaking, but visiting the school and seeing the love and care they bring to these kids was very moving.
