I have always known that we have some distant relatives on my side that live in Australia. My grandmother connected us with him once we made it to Australia so we planned to meet them for a visit. Bill is my deceased paternal grandfather’s half brother. My grandfather did not grow up with him, rather they became connected later in life and became friends before my grandfather passed away from a brain tumor. Bill moved to Australia over 40 years ago and has lived there ever since.

During our visit, we drove around town and were able to see some of the places that my grandparents visited when they were here. We ate a lot of yummy seafood and also a few delicious roasts over Bill’s wood fire spit.

Bill gifted me one of my grandfathers fishing reels and we are looking forward to using that road. The fishing reel was one that my grandfather brought from the USA and gifted to Bill when he was visiting him in Australia many years ago. It has “RW Frame, KC, MO” and his old phone number etched into the metal reel. It was very special gift that I received from Bill and it is something that we will bring along with us in our travels (and have the rest of our life) and hopefully use to catch some dinner down the road! :) Gayle also gave me a beautiful bracelet that she got in her travels a few years back when visiting the UK.
