There is a 3-4 day backpacking trek through the Andes called the Santa Cruz trek. This was a backpacking trip we both were really looking forward to, it looked marvelous. Little did we know, if it was gray and cloudy, you wouldn't see the massive mountains beyond the range the hiking trails were in. Bummer.
We had 3 days of rain, hail, some snow, and very little sunshine. If we knew what the weather was going to be like it was, we would have skipped it. It was a challenging time since the hike was over 12,000 ft the entire time and the highest point was 15,500 ft. Hiking up mountains at high elevation with a big pack was really challenging but we made it! Since the weather was so brutal, we ended up hiking only 3 days instead of 4. The last couple hours of our final day were sunny and hot, our bodies were very confused!
